East Buchanan Community School District - Special Board Meeting Minutes – April 28, 2026
Call to Order- President Andy Sperfslage called the meeting to order at 5:07 pm. The board recited the East Buchanan Mission Statement. Board members present were Tonishia Dockstader, Andy Sperfslage, Heather Steffens, and Troy Tempus. Board member Andrew Maas was absent. Administrative staff attending were Superintendent Kory Kelchen and Business Manager/Board Secretary Teresa Knipper. Several visitors attended the meeting. Motion carried with all ayes unless noted otherwise.
Approve Agenda - Motion by Dockstader, second by Steffens to approve the agenda as presented.
Approve Consent Agenda - Motion by Steffens, second by Tempus to approve the consent agenda which consisted of personnel changes as follows: reduction in force of Charles Heuer, Mindy Jenkins, Talya March, and Lisa Smith as teachers; resignation of Tanner Erickson-Dale as asst boys wrestling coach; resignation of Brenda Schnell as business teacher; hiring of Mike Kerkove for summer mowing; and hiring of McKenzie Knutson, Brianna Krum, Kelli Chettinger, and Dawn Morris for summer custodial.
School Logo Use Request - Motion by Steffens, second by Tempus to approve the request from Jean & Co to use the school logo.
26-27 Staff Computer Purchase – Motion by Dockstader, second by Steffens to approve the staff computer purchase for the 2026-2027 school year as presented.
Out of State Music Trip – Motion by Dockstader, second by Tempus to approve the out of state music trip request as presented with the addition of an extra chaperone as required by board policy.
Denovo/Emergent Building Project Work Session – Representatives from Emergent Architecture and Denovo Construction presented new options for the board to consider.
Adjourn- Motion by Steffens, second by Dockstader to adjourn the meeting at 6:22 pm.
